LOL!! Do you have hope the public option will be included and the bill will be one we are happy with??
I hesitate to predict. Between the Blue/Yellow Dogs and the out-and-out extremists on the right - which make up about 99 9/10 percent of the GOP these days - I'm a tad bit worried. But it's not over until the fat lady sings and I hope she sings long and loud, so that the above can't hold their breaths and choke trying to catch it.
I have to believe Obama knows he was elected by the majority, and we progressives want the public option, he needs to listen to us!! I can't wait for the arguments to begin!
I don't think we'll see a public option. Not because of Republican opposition (which is really not a factor) but because of Blue Dog opposition. Efforts to be 'bipartisan' strike me as being more designed to satisfy conservative Democrats like Kent Conrad, Ben Nelson, and Heath Shuler (to roll off three examples) than to purchase imaginary Republican votes on the bill. Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe might vote for it, at a stretch, but that is as bipartisan as the bill will get. Regardless of a public option. However, Kent Conrad and Ben Nelson might not vote for a Senate bill with a public option and so it may need to go.
Right now, I think it's a toss up. Anything could happen. Maybe all the Blue Dogs will go on a cruise.
