Don't forget the shelter animals at Christmas

Adopt a pet or donate to a shelter near you.

Spay, spay, spay. An unspayed mother cat can have 12 kittens the first year. The next year, she and her offspring will increase the cat population by 67. By the fifth year, there will be 11,801. And by the ninth year there will be 11,606,077 of them - all from that very first unspayed cat.

Over 11 million animals are placed in shelters each year. Half get adopted.

  1. I rescue stray cats and have them fixed. I have found homes for 9 in the last 3 years.

I also have 2 rescue dogs.

See I'm not a bad person just because I have a different political view.

  2. There is nothing bad about having a different political view. It's more a case of bad manners and bad netiquette. But I'm glad you are an animal person. Let's leave it there.

  3. Hmmmm interesting. They do say if you are an animal person then you are a kindhearted person.

  4. I have several rescued puppies, all of which I rescued personally from bad situations. I am a major animal lover!

  5. MM: I saw that you were when I first went to your profile. We animal lovers have to stick together, right Suzie Doozie?

  6. There are a group of us who will be having Christmas stay over guests.

    I will have four dogs.

We bring the animals home for Christmas (pick up Wed. night-bring back Tue morn.) so the rescue staff don't have to staff the place over the Holiday weekend.

They get human treatment at my house. They sit around eating to their hearts content, while I do the cooking and cleaning. They seem to like Christmas movies, and the parades. They don't like football.

  7. Good for you, Tom. I bet they love it and I bet you're exhausted on Tuesday morning. But what a worthwhile thing to do and how grand for the staff - no cages to clean.

My best friend does rescue. It takes an emotional toll. I'm not sure I could do it because I haven't met a four legged animal yet that I didn't like. It's the two legged ones I question from time to time.
