We didn't elect Joe Lieberman president, but with the way he's controlling the health care debate, it sure seems like it. We need President Obama to step up, now, and fight with the voters for real reform with a public option. Can you call President Obama at 202-456-1111?
Or, go to MoveOn.org
I wonder if he's listening. No matter how many calls I make, e-mails I send, or posts I make things just keep getting worse. I fear its a case of the public be damned.
ReplyDeleteI just called and sent an email, for whatever good it will do.
ReplyDeleteI'm just as discouraged as you folks, but I'm an old street fighter, so I'm not ready to give up yet. I don't think the Vietnam War would have ended when it did had it not been for millions of people like me protesting. And it was the people, I'm convinced, that convinced the media to criticize the war. There are a couple of messages here.
ReplyDeleteI received the MoveOn.org by e-mail. A few hundred messages aren't going to have much impact, but millions and millions will. It's kind of like voting.
If we give up, the right-wing wins. If we can't convince the powers that be that they aren't representing us, at least we can feel we've tried. I know this isn't much solace, but damn it all, I can't just sit still.
The thing is - we have to ask others to send emails and make calls and ask them to do likewise, so it fans out.
I just posted this on my comment above.
ReplyDeleteFrom TPM today:
"But by the afternoon, Lieberman was praising the Democratic bill and one tea partier had literally put an X through the "Stand With Joe" written on the sign he waved."

So, I meant to add, maybe those emails have had an effect.I honestly felt yesterday that he looked a little weird.
