The South Carolina Republican candidate for governor recommends letting children of unemployed and minimum wage workers starve. Lt. Gov Andre Bauer compared them to stray animals. Don't feed them, he says. They breed.
Just another day in the life of a good Christian. He could just let them eat cake.
With a tip of the hat to my good friends over at Hillbilly Report
And we shouldn't send help to the Haïtians. It will just encourage them to have more earthquakes.
ReplyDeletejust another redneck good 'ole boy, blame the poor because they are simply poor.... how sad. They just don't get it, not all of America can be rich and find corporate high paying jobs. The poor don't choose to be poor. Most of them are hardworking middle America who can not catch a break. How 'bout giving them a break Mr. Bauer?
ReplyDeleteThere's just something weird about those folks in S.C. Must be sittin' around Hilton Head that does it.
ReplyDeleteIt weird because the likes of this man breed and we don't and we see the results of that interaction in people like Bauer in statements like this. The media loves it and again like a good repug he questions and blames those who take him to task as the problem. The ones that have been born to this love it as well because- - - - the South lives on.
ReplyDeleteEvidence that politicians inbreed.
ReplyDeleteSelective Christianity.
ReplyDeleteEven if he really believes it, it's not too cool to make such a stupid statement when you're running for office! Geez. Did you notice how he tried to wheedle out of it?
ReplyDeleteWell, yawl come back, ya heah. The South shall rise again.
Personally, I am shocked by the honesty....
ReplyDeleteIf you every go to South Carolina, don't drink the water, because Bauer, Sandford, Wilson, Graham and DeMint did.
ReplyDeleteTAO - His honesty is indeed commendable, but to paraphrase Ben Franklin, sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and show no ignorance than to open it and leave no doubt.
ReplyDeleteHolte: Isn't it amazing that all of these clowns came out of the same state?
I am doing business with a company in South Carolina...they are a major subcontractor.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, its not just the politicians....
In fact this week I am visiting with two other contractors in an attempt to replace this sub contractor...
TAO: You know the people are the same way if they elect those idjits. And I'm not sure that the people aren't even worse. I know some of the specimens.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that deep in his heart Bauer does indeed want to feed dogs and kids.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a question of deciding what to feed them to.
you are making me laugh! :-) are you having any problems with sitemeter? This is the government speaking...
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, we're talking about the state that spawned Strom Thurmond and kept that mean old bastard in his seat for how many decades? Also one of the poorest states with its own share of federal welfare because it can't/won't provide for its own citizens. Oh, how those apples don't fall far from the racist-bastard tree.
ReplyDeleteInfidel: Haw-Haw. I wonder if or how this will affect the election. He'll probably win by a landslide.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of people in South Carolina who don’t think this way, and we work really hard in behalf of statewide Democratic candidates.
ReplyDeleteThe sad fact is: it’s the very people Bauer has ridiculed who vote Republican. The tnlib knows exactly what I’m saying.
Rush Limbaugh takes advantage of this longtime anti-welfare mentality when he talks about the poor in this country being “piglets at the nipple” of government assistance.
I’m not certain this phenomenon is restricted to the South, and I do have a problem with blanket condemnation, because it’s, well, prejudice.
Personally, it would be painful to be represented by the likes of a Lindsey O. Graham, a Jim DeMint, a Mark Sanford, but Democrats in South Carolina aren’t represented by these twits.

Sue: Sent you an email - don't know why I let you talk me into these things. This wouldn't be the first time the government is watching me.
ReplyDeleteBee: I've only driven through SC one time but didn't linger, altho I know a couple of racist souls from there. I doubt if they're much different from folks in AL (also a very poor state), GA, MS, TN, KY, WV, NC and VA and . . .
Rarely does Frodo ask for a serious reflection. Nutrition, as we all know, is a determinant in both physical and mental health. Isn't it in our national interest to develop both? Don't we want our soldiers, for example, to be the best fighters in the world, in body and in mind? Isn't it "American" to make sure that those who follow us are "the best they can be"?
ReplyDeleteThese comments by one who can direct military personnel to action present a "clear and present danger" to public safety. There is no humor in what has been stated, there is no reason in what has been stated, there is only the lunatic hatred of one in one race toward all of those in another.
It is criminal.
BJ - I’m not certain this phenomenon is restricted to the South, and I do have a problem with blanket condemnation, because it’s, well, prejudice.
ReplyDeleteIt might be, but I don't think you should take it that way. For one thing, I think most people (on my blog roll at least) realize that this kind of thinking is not limited to the South or to one particular state. And I'm sure they know that there are hard working Democrats in SC.
However, the south does seem to have a greater share of it, so it gets more pokes and I think the people who poke the hardest are those who live in the South. I'm forever making fun of TN reps - they're from a class of neanderthals. I think because the personal behavior and comments of people like Wilson, DeMint and Sanford are so over the top, they get so much media attention and naturally attract more negative commentary.
Frodo - excellent point and, frankly, I can't add anything to it that would enhance it because you've said it so well. I will be very interested in the outcome of this election.
