Ten Dems who voted for health care threatened

So, what the hell does it take? Why aren't the Republicans crying out against these vigilantes? What are they waiting for? Another Oklahoma City? This is morally and criminally wrong and still they say nothing.

As of tonight 10 Democrats are receiving increased security after being threatened because they voted for the Health Care bill.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said at a Capitol Hill press conference that he is concerned by a rash of at least four incidents of vandalism targeting lawmakers who voted for the legislation.

In the latest incident, the gas line leading to a propane tank at the home of Bo Perriello, brother of Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Va., was slashed one day after Tea Party activists posted his address online. They mistakenly thought it was the Representatives home. Par for the course for people who can't spell.

The site encouraged opponents of the health reform bill to express thanks to Rep. Perriello and to stop by to express their opposition..

The FBI is working with local officials to investigate the incident.

The Charlottesville Daily Progress reported that one of the two activists who posted the address condemned the action and said he is "almost speechless."

"My number one priority right now is ensuring the safety of my brother's family," Perriello said in a statement Wednesday. The Virginia freshman lawmaker called upon leaders in both parties "to state unequivocally tonight that it is never OK to harm or threaten elected officials and their families with anything more than political retribution."

According to MSNBC, Republicans also condemned the threats. "That is reprehensible behavior," said Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va. "We are a free country, but no one should be engaging in that kind of uncivil behavior," he added. Well, that's one.

Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., whose Niagra Falls office was vandalized Friday, said that Democratic members are concerned about violence suggested by opponents of the health reform. "Basically shape up, or we're going to have a civil war," she said.

How can we expect responsibility from Republicans when Sarah Palin twitted: " "Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!" On her FB page she provides a map where 20 Dems who are up for re-election are targeted for defeat - with rifle scopes.

A teacher on Huffington Post commented that if that had been a student, they'd be handcuffed and led off to jail.

Is this home grown terrorism? If so, then it should be treated as such.

  3. It fits the definition of terrorism... and it should be treated as such..

SP has crossed the line again... When are people going to wake up and realize how dangerous she is.. She did this during the election and although it didn't get much attention nationally... here we have Democratic offices vandalized then.. Bricks through windows of at least 2 in one county alone.. and there were other incidents then too.. and none of it started until she starting riling people up about Pres. Obama being a "domestic terrorist" and palling around with one.

Yes, I think they all sound like Klan members.. and the people who are supposed to be House members standing on the balcony waving flags and signs from the Tea Partiers.. They should all be censured.

  4. For the tea baggers and the other far right fringe, this was never about HC. It was about hate, and fear. Hate and fear of the unknown. Hate and fear to evolve.

Let them go, the American people will now see them for what they really are.

They will always have their 20-25% to water their own tree of sorrow. Compassion is a virtue, hate will be their own down fall.
If they do not understand it, they try to control it. When they can not control it, they try to kill it. The [it] is life its self.

  5. I agree with these great comments. The GOP needs to speak out yes, but that won't stop the crazies. They need the FBI on their fuckin trails which I'm sure they are. Arrest everyone of the bastards and start with Palin, Beck and Limpy, then go after the US Senate!

  6. I have to believe these people - and that includes the idiot GOP delegation - are shooting themselves in the feet and are going though death throws. I have a hard time accepting that the majority of good, decent Americans could condone this kind of thing - even if they are against the bill.

  7. Those idiots looked at Bo Perriello and Tom Perriello's names and said that they must be the same person. After all, they both have an "O" in their first names. Talk about shit for brains!

  9. Ok, so the dumbass terrorist here in Virginia posted someone's home address (not even the correct address, the numbskull), and now he "condemns" the actions taken at that address, where someone cut a freaking GAS LINE and risked blowing up the entire neighborhood? Gimme a break, already.

  11. I fear you're right. Another Tim McVeigh is already at work, or maybe several of them. We just don't know where they're going to hit. All we know is that they'll hit those who are unequipped to defend themselves.
