This month of April marks the 42nd anniversary of the death of Dr. King and we are commemorating his life and work by creating a memorial in our nation's capital. The Washington, DC, Martin Luther King, Jr., National Memorial will honor his life and contributions to the world through non violent social change.
Martin Luther King Memorial
I HAVE A DREAM
An inspiring post, after all the Confederacy horseshit that's been flying around the internet lately.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Infidel. The web site is very impressive.
ReplyDeleteAwesome sculpting work seen in that third photo.
ReplyDeleteInfidel: One thing I hated about townhall.com was that there were a bunch of neoconfederates there.
It is beautiful work, that sculpture.I had glossed over it, but noticing dmark's comment returned to the website to better enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteA very impressive way to commemorate a remarkable man.
ReplyDeleteWent to DC for the first time last summer, spent 2 of our days there visiting all the memorials. For all the crap that goes on there, DC is a fascinating place. A MLK Memorial will be an appropriate addition.
ReplyDeleteI second Dmarks & Oso
ReplyDeleteThe memorial and the website are looking fabulous, I think - great for students of all ages. Of course, like every other non-profit, they're looking for donations, but living on SS that's something I'll have to put aside 'till I win the lottery.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a man more deserving than a memorial. He was one of the most eloquent speakers/writers of our time and spent hi energy in search of racial equality and justice for all.
ReplyDeleteOne hell of a cool man.
Beautiful! Just beautiful! Made my day!
ReplyDeleteyes Leslie, very inspiring post. Truly a great man, MLK jr, so deserving of this beautiful memorial.
ReplyDeleteNot just a dream anymore...
ReplyDeleteDamn good looking piece of sculpture as well of the man!
ReplyDeleteThank You Ms.TNlib
Thanks for this Leslie.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. This was a real pleasure to do. As soon as I have a few extra bucks I will contribute something just to know that I've helped make a dream possible, if only in a very small way.
ReplyDeleteThe sculpture is quite impressive. The love of my life was an artist. He often told me that the hardest part of the body to paint or sculpt are the hands. Whoever this artist is has done a beautiful job.
