(chuckle) very clever :)
I love Tom Lehrer!!!! His sense of humor was always the highlight of TW3 for me!!!!Thanks!!!!!!
When I was growing up, my father had an original recording of Tom Lehrer. It started on the inside are worked it way out, rather then starting on the outside and working it way into the center. Of course, now days kids don't even know that a record is. I listened to it over and over again.
An interesting man for a mathematician. His bio at Wiki is pretty interesting.I remember that album and I have a book of his songs that I've had for years.
Another Tom Lehrer fan smiling here...
Like Bee said. Sort of makes you glad it comes but once a year. And yet, it's not all or always like that. Some gifts are heartfelt expressions of love and appreciation. Some people go out of their way to be good to others, especially ones in need.Maybe it's because of hard times or just a generational uptick, but I've noticed people working in stores, shops and restaurants being more friendly and helpful the past two or three years. That's been especially so during the holidays. With no commercial motive or spiritual overhang, let me wish you, tnlib, and all here the best of the holiday season and a much better new year.
As I wrote over at fb, he is an enduring American icon of wit and political satire. I love his Vatican Rag and his National Brotherhood week. Somewhere on YouTube is the astounding song he wrote and performed on the Periodic Table.Brilliant mind.
Ah, Tom Lehrer! I have all his albums. The man had such a profound influence on my own satirical style. Mine is a debt I will never be able to repay. My favorite quote from Tom:"Satire died the day they gave Henry Kissinger the Nobel Peace Prize."The man is truly a national treasure. God bless 'im!All the best,Tom Degan
Tom: Yep, he is indeed a national treasure. I'm fortunate that my family like him because I was introduced to him via vinyl at a very young age.
