1960s: Creedence Clearwater - Bad Moon Rising

Sing along tonight while gazing at the "biggest" moon in 17 years. A little back to the future?

I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.

[Chorus:]
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

[Chorus]

All right!

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

  1. Cool!

(I can't help it -- I always hear the key line of this song as "There's a bathroom on the right".)

  2. The 'bad' moon rising might the 'best' thing happening in the world right now.

  3. Love that song! I hope to be looking at that big moon in about an hour!

  4. Infidel: If there were "a bathroom on the right," it would be my theme-song.

Holte: Read my FB post on pornography - that'll cheer you up.

Sue: I'll be looking, if I can find it!

  5. Leslie,
It's eerie, but that song could have been a 42 years too early warning for the poor people of Japan!

  6. Fogerty had a set pipes. I think CCR is more appreciated now than back then.

  7. CCR is one of my all-time favorites, and that song is one of their best. Nice tie-in with the "super moon."

  8. I love CCR and had the pleasure of seeing them in concert in my misspent (albeit fun) youth!

  9. Well, I missed the moon, sure hate that, but love the song. My niece as a kid thought it was "I see a baboon a-rising."

  10. Thanks everyone. I left another comment but must have clicked on the wrong darn button. Seem to be doing that a lot today.

I have always loved CCR and have posted a couple of other videos of theirs. Great lyrics and rhythm and energy to burn.

  11. CCR is the best! I missed seeing the moon, damn thunderstorm moved in before night fall and it stayed cloudy all night after.

  12. Isn't it amazing how well CCR's music has aged? It's as fresh today as it was then, and that's hard to say about 40 year old tunes!

  13. Late to the moon party here, but I had a fabulous seat at the event. We scored a waterside booth at our favorite restaurant to watch the Supermoon rise over Murrells Inlet. A Great Blue pair were nesting within yards of us on Goat Island, looking a little nervous over the highest tide we'd ever seen. It was stupendous. The moon snuck up on us like a shy, peach-faced child at the bedside in the dark, then evolved into a 14K gold Roman coin hanging in midair. Took my breath.

  14. Missed the moon here because at this time of year the farmers burn the ground brush, thus releasing "tons" of smoke into the air. Once it rose above the horizon we could see it, but it was just the typical moon.

  15. Frodo has been staring into the eyes of the dragon for many moons. Appropriate it is that the memory of those glorious human footprints thereupon are what pulled him out of his tailspin. We can do, and we have done, anything to which we put our minds.

  16. It was less than spectacular here and my photos even less so. Was hoping I could reach out and touch it. No dice.
