BlogTalkRadio and Me

This is your chance to hear my unmelodious flat monotone with a southern twang. It is also my maiden voyage into the world of radio.

Tomorrow, Sunday, I will be making an appearance on Women's Voice at 11 a.m. EST. Fortunately, there is no video. Depending on whether or not I can fool people into thinking I know what I'm talking about, I may become an irregular feature.

The subject, of course, will be the theater that is Washington and the debt ceiling battle. And yes, I'm as nervous as a pregnant nun in church.

  3. I've always wondered how much you sound like Scarlett O’Hara …

  4. Aaargh. Sounded like I have one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel. I do NOT have the voice for radio. I really, really hope nobody listened.

  6. You can still listen to it. Thanks for your sweet words, but I really am seriously disappointed in my so-called "performance."

  8. I listened to the whole thing. It was great to be able to listen to you. You should do it more often.

  9. Les, you sounded just like you...now, why does such a thing amaze us? You sounded great: relaxed, well-versed, and you kept it simple and understandable...which is so difficult to do with this issue that's been hyped and spun up and twisted into an unrecognizable giant super cell tornado that's heading right into the heart of town.

I'd never heard of Blog Talk Radio, but now I've got to go peer into its guts and learn more.

  10. Leslie, sorry I missed it. Taking care of granddaughter and had to watch Alice in Wonderland for the 4th time.

Is there a replay I can hear later?

BTW, a very Merry UnBirthday to all!

    Arrrrrgh!

  11. Thanks to all of you for your kind words of support. I'm not sure you didn't mistake one of the other articulate ladies for me. When I listened to the broadcast afterwards, I honestly (not fishing here) couldn't hear what I was saying and felt I sounded as if I had a mouth full of mush - to say nothing about all the pauses and the ah, ah, ah's.

If you really have a desire, Shaw, you can link to it for the replay. ; )

  12. I had a shock when I came here and the first thing I saw was the tea party badge. What a bit of luck that I know what an oxymoron is.

Thank you for coming over to Friko's World; my ranting and raving is strictly British oriented; even so, our politicians have an awful lot in common.

Don't they all, the moment they have just a tiny bit of power?

  13. Friko: Thanks for coming by. I thorough enjoyed your article and those of you who didn't see the link on Nance's Mature Landscaping should journey over and take a look.

I bet you some fish and chips "they" have no clue what an oxymoron is! Am going to add your delightful blog to my roll. It is thoroughly enjoyable, especially for someone who had a brilliant anglophile for an English teacher all four years of high school. Only the classics with lots of British history - mostly ancient - thrown in for good measure. Maybe your blog will stir some memories in this feeble mind.

  14. Thank You for the show link Leslie, and the topic is worthy of course. I think there is one thing ya'll can conclude mutually similar here ... and that is that this "debt ceiling" and the 14th amendment, is something complex enough to be twisted inside out given the right translator's with law background's ... as I said before ... it's done for a reason, and alwayz has diversion route's for the player's as well. But anywayz Leslie ... best to ya'll on your new show ... dont worry about your voice tone ... you'll loosen up later and be raising Hell, give it a few round's, you sound fine.

  15. BTW Leslie, I noticed on all the blogsite's that have a comment's system like your's ... I alwayz have to sign in 3 to 5 time's before it get's posted with "ranch chimp" ... it goes first as anon, then sign in again and again, etc ... so that must have to do with my service provider company? because it dont do that on blog's with my type comment's deal ... on a few of the blog's (not your's though) I never could get it to post my comment even after more than a half dozen sign in's.

  16. I don't know what to suggest. Do you have Chrome or Firefox? One or the other might help but that's just a guess.

  17. As usual I'm late to the party. You really know your stuff so I am sure you were just great. I wish I could have heard it, but I really can't hear well enough to understand radio because I often need captioning.

  18. L.P., I've come by three times during a busy, sometimes trying week and never really had time to pay proper attention. I listened to a portion this evening and will download and listen to the rest on my mp3 player.

It was good to hear your voice. It was also good to hear sensible, intelligent people holding a rational discussion and not a group talking-points dump. Good for you, your host and fellow panelist.

  19. Ranch Chimp, I'm not sure I'm clear on the problem you're having, but I'll bet it has to do with cookies stored in your browser and the fact that different blogs accept different ways to sign in, and you might've used different ways to sign in here when commenting.

Try this, based on Firefox. (If you're using MS Internet Explorer you should be able to figure out how to do the same thing by going through the menus.)

Go to Tools-->Options-->Privacy. Halfway down, click on "remove individual cookies." In the popup enter "parseleyspics" (without the quotation marks). Click on that item and delete it. Close your browser then restart it. Come back here and leave a comment. Below the comment box there's a form item, "Comment as:" and "Select profile." Click on the tiny triangle and go down to Name/URL. In the popup enter Ranch Chimp and http://ranchchimpjournal.blogspot.com/.

    Then click on "Post Comment."

If you get a popup when you go to enter your name and URL, click "No" for now. If on a future visit you want your browser to try to enter your "Select profile" info automatically click yes, but realize that doing so could cause your problem to start all over again (I think). ;)

    I hope this will help.

  20. Darlene: Don't worry. I'm not good at "listening" even under the best of circumstances.

S.W.: Not to worry. Emine does a knock-out job on her show. Me? Now I know why folks who don't know better say "Sir" when they call me on the phone!!!

  21. Leslie, thank you so much for your comment about me doing a knock-out job. You and Wendy were great. None of us has formal training in broadcasting, but you know what really matters is that we care. You are one of a kind, and I love you for it. Thank you so much for being our guest, hopefully we will do it again. Thank you so much for caring for our country, our planet and animals too. You are great, and I am so glad to have met you, even as an online friend for now. ~Emine

  22. Don't know if SW's last comment was on here but I just saw it in my "Spam" folder for some reason. I don't know why this is happening because I sure as heck have never sent anything by him to Spam!!! Anyway, it's here now, if it wasn't before???
