Since 2007, the GOP and the Right Wing Media, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, et al, have been propagating a campaign of irrational fear and hate against President Barak Obama. These devious and dishonest attacks are designed to delegitimize the Presidency of Barak Obama, and to characterize him as; the other, foreign, un-American, non-Christian, and alien. He has been called socialist, communist, fascist, The New Hitler, Marxist, Stalinist, Muslim, African Anti- Colonialist, Anti-Christ, baby killer, gay lover, uppity, The Food Stamp President, and nigger. The base of the GOP is clearly without any morality, their claim to Jesus and God rings hallow as they practice Anti-Christ in the name of Jesus. This constituency has been duped with fear, into a position of unfounded distrust and hate. In their zealotry, they express a fanatical willingness to vote against their own self interest. The Conservatives have been conquered, their party has been taken over by the Corporatist in a pact with the Theocrats and the Objectivist. Watch this video and tell me how anyone with a modicum of intelligence, or any degree of honesty, could vote for a Republican.

I've posted this on my blog and linked to you, Leslie.
ReplyDeleteThank you for alerting me to this.
Thanks Shaw.
DeleteThanks for posting this Leslie. I admit that after about 3 minutes I couldn't take any more and fast forwarded to the last minute or so.
ReplyDeleteWhat really struck me was the apparent low intelligence level of the speakers. But then, at the least, one would have to be a moron to believe the pap they were regurgitating any way.
A lot of it we've seen before but the impact is even greater when it's all compiled into one video and juxtaposed with Romney's code talk.
DeleteThat video plumbs the depths of ignorance and sheer, bigoted stupidity abroad in our society. It's nothing new, of course. That kind of angry hatred has been directed at every Democratic candidate for president and Democratic president for the past 40 years. There is a class of people unable to simply disagree with a politician or officeholder on issues and policies without perceiving that person as devious, of evil intent and an enemy whose reputation must be destroyed. Then, there are the crazies who want to try and imprison, or even maim and kill, those who dare to disagree with them. They're all very given to applying the label "un-American." As John Birch Society members and white citizens council members, they even did it to Dwight Eisenhower, largely over his appointment of Earl Warren to be chief justice of the Supreme Court and Brown vs. Board of Education.
ReplyDeleteThis poisonous, demented subculture got a power boost when a mixed-race man of the wrong party with an African-sounding name ran for and won the presidency. And, of course, Republicans are only too happy to pander and cater to their ugly, ignorant impulses. Nothing personal, Mr. President; it's just part and parcel of the political and religious right's anything-to-win compulsion.
Even knowing that, the IOKIYAR double standard is breathtaking. People on the left question Mitt Romney's secret tax filings and Swiss and Cayman bank accounts, and we're sullying the reputation of a fine American and successful businessman, and out to punish him and others for their success. The right's tea party lunatic fringe can hurl the N-word and spread lies with impunity.
Brilliantly stated, S.W. I shudder to think what will happen should the Tea Party (they aren't Republicans even if they've usurped the name)win this election. Hopefully the central and moderate core of GOP voters will turn their backs on them and reject their heinous philosophies and hopefully the folks on the hard left will wake up to what's at stake here. I'm under no delusions, however, that if sanity wins out in November, these ignorant, hate-filled neo-Neanderthals will give up and fade into the sunset. They are determined to take control, destroying our democracy in the process, whether it's this year or 2016 or 2020 or even after that. It is during these times that I'm rather glad to be old.
DeleteThat video should be shown each night at the Democratic convention.
Delete'Tis far better to be older and wiser, than younger and misinformed, hateful and angry. Or worse yet, older and misinformed, hateful and angry. Who has time for that?
