Is It All About Her?

I promised not to write about her anymore but I can't seem to help it. She's just such good copy. I mean, what a poor excuse for a so-called patriot, a savvy politician and a modern day woman.

CBS reports that in her "mad as hell" resignation speech, Palin lashed out, surprisingly, at the media. So, what's new? The woman came out of her mother's womb criticizing the media.

You represent what could and should be a respected, honest profession that could and should be a cornerstone of our democracy," she said. "Democracy depends on you, and that is why- that's why out troops are willing to die for you. So how about in honor of the American soldier, you quit makin' things up."

So, if our military are willing to die for those who support Freedom (no exceptions) of the Press, that means they must be willing to die defending this woman's right to slander and to massage the truth, i.e., make things up.

Palin's poll numbers have tanked since the heights she achieved after her resounding speech at the Republican National Convention in August of last year. Forty-four percent of Americans viewed her favorably in the CBS News poll taken then, while in the July 12, 2009 CBS news poll, only 26 percent had a favorable view.

But there is a number that should give Palin and her supporters hope that she may yet have a second life in national politics. A whopping thirty-nine percent of those polled in the most recent CBS News survey said that they were undecided or had not heard enough about her.

Now, this is where I have a serious problem. I've never had much use for this nebulous group called "undecided." Either they don't have the courage of their convictions or they just like straddling the fence. In either case it's a coward's way out. Besides, one can get seriously hurt riding the fence.

But as for the ones who claim they haven't heard enough about her, where in the hell have they been for the past year? Do they even read the paper? If they can't read, surely they have a large screen TV where they can watch the news between movies. Or, this is a thought, they can read all about her on my blog. If this is an example of the "informed voter," I shudder for the future of our country.

  1. Since she is in politics, her lack of shame probably shouldn't astound me. Politics is a career for those with no shame.

Yet I can't help but question her thinking processes. I do think, on some level, she genuinely believes every single thing she says. I think her reality filter is badly bent out of shape. Now, this is true of all of us to some degree. However, it appears that she is one of the people who allowed the media and political attempt to create consensus reality during the Bush administration to totally overwhelm her perceptions of the world.

Now I know quite a few people like that, around here. The difference is, they aren't running for office and I don't have to listen to them.

  2. I think it's obvious she's too stupid to know she's stupid. Go to factcheck.org, look in Aug., 2008, and find an analysis of an email sent by a resident of Wasila to friends and was thus spread all over the country practically.

  3. I think I've seen it, actually. And I agree entirely about her being too stupid to know she's stupid. What always astounds me is when otherwise smart people are 'too stupid to know she's stupid' too.

Or maybe it's me. Maybe being a socialist skews my perceptions of them.
