Finally! Thank the Lord and spare the ammunition. Gertie is back. Now I can improve upon the content - hopefully. No more posts about technology's impact on writing. No more just cut and paste - well, not too much.
This has been a couple of trying months and more than once I've thought of blowing off the blog altogether. One computer in the business office has Word but doesn't have my settings when I log into Google. The other computer has most of the settings but not Word. Time constraints and noise pollution make doing any meaningful research and writing almost impossible.
When I had to get off I'd head for the library down the street. Busy, busy - with waits up to an hour or more and computers slow as molasses flowing up hill in the winter. If I typed just at a moderate speed, the computer would hang up and I'd have to sit there and wait an eternity for it to catch up with itself. When my time was up there I'd come back to the business off.
My lovely Georgia cousins gave me this, despite everything, wonderful computer. I had to ship it down to their IT guy who had to send it back to the factory twice.
I must have been anticipating Gertie's arrival this morning because I only slept about two hours last night. It might take a day or two to get up to speed but at least I have it and a couple of items waiting in the wings. This is the best birthday present ever.
