1960s: Chad Mitchell Trio - John Birch Society

Just when I thought I didn't have an idea for Saturday's music extravaganza, here comes the Chad Mitchell Trio singing their satirical "John Birch Society" in 1962. This was a daring song at that time because the times were kind of weird and scary - not unlike today.

  1. Love it!

    I have all their albums.

Check out my new dolphin widget. For some reason the adopt a dog widget won't work. I'm still working on it.

  2. Love it! We need someone to do something similar for the teabaggers.

  3. Tom: You'd die if you knew all the LP's I had to get rid of a couple of years ago. Lots of 60s, of course, and lots of classical. About six moving boxes altogether.

TC: Great idea, including how they went from Teabagger to Tea Party.

  4. LP,
Interesting post. Is the new widget your dog? He's (she's)good looking. What is his breed?

  5. Hey L&OT: Where have you been? No, that's a look-alike I got off of Google Images. He/she is a lab. Mine is a lab/dobby mix - a 14 year old baby with the best of both breeds and weighs in at 110 lbs. He's a love even if he's been responsible for a few broken bones - mine.

I hope you had a terrific Christmas.

I need to come up with an easier handle for you. My two fingers have a hard time hitting those caps and the &!

  6. Hey there Leslie Parsley, returning the compliment you to paid by visiting me, I think I will enjoy coming back often.

As for the John Birch Society, it's a wonder they have any members at all, they appear to be against everything.

  7. Holte. Great. Actually, I think the JBS should feel right at home with the extremists since they don't like anyone either, especially themselves.

  8. LP,
Thanks for noticing. My better half "requested" that I take a few days off to spend with family time. After 35+ years I tend to listen to "requests."

Having a dog that big that's 14 and a bonebreaker makes you a very tolerant owner to say the least.

As for a handle, after 26 years as a cop I have a thick skin as far as names go. Thanks for the good wishes.

  9. L&OT: How about just Law or The Law? I like that better than Teach, which sounds a bit flip to me.

Lucky has been a second Marley. Used to have to use a bungee cord to secure the fridge door to the window handle or he'd eat me out of house and home, even getting into the drawers. As soon as I thought I had fixed a way to prevent him from doing something he shouldn't, he'd figure out another way to do it! At 14 he's finally becoming an adult.

I've often wondered what impact blogging has on marriages. Mine would have crashed before it did.

    Thanks for stopping by.
