Onward Christian Soldiers

Christian hate groups, patriot groups and all kinds of domestic terrorist groups are activating or re-activating in the name of God and country. They are like tiny benign tumors that grow into massive malignant cancers.

Sue just posted a piece about a new group called The Oath Keepers - the militant and armed side of the The Tea Party Movement.

Wing-nuts, in their infinite denial, like to proclaim that these groups do not exist. But they do and they are no better than such gangs as the Bloods and the Crips. In short, they are ignorant thugs who harass, intimidate and threaten their fellow citizens  in the name of Christianity and love for our country.

Repent Amarillo is an evangelical hate group which has been "terrorizing the town of Amarillo." Their mission is to "work:"

1. Gay pride events.
2. Earth worship events such as “Earth Day”
3. Pro-abortion events or places such as Planned Parenthood.
4. Breast cancer events such as “Race for the Cure” to illuminate the link between abortion and breast cancer.
5. Opening day of public schools to reach out to students.
6. Spring break events.
7. Demonically based concerts.
8. Halloween events.
9. Other events that may arise that the ministry feels called to confront.

According to The Texas Observer, one of "Repent's" targets has been a swinger's club, Route 66.

Their leader, David Grisham, a security guard at nuclear-bomb facility Pantex who moonlights as a pastor, explained the action. “We’re here to shine the light on this darkness,” Grisham told the Amarillo Globe-News. “I don’t think Amarillo knew about this place. This is adultery. This is wrong. There’s no telling how many venereal diseases get spread, how many abortions.” The goal, Grisham says, was not just to save the swingers’ souls, but to shut the club down.

Because of complaints to the fire marshal and the city's code enforcement division, the club was shut down for five months for minor violations,"like the lack of separate-sex bathrooms."  Membership is supposed to be private, but somehow the Repenters obtain the names and addresses and show up at parties at private homes. These good Christians trespass on private property and try to block cars from entering the driveway.

Meanwhile, Repent has put the Meads (the owners) on the brink of bankruptcy. Since the protests started last year, the Route 66 building has been rented just three times, forcing the couple to put it up for sale. For Repent, God had delivered a victory. The group snatched up a Web site the Meads had let lapse, Route66SwingersClub.com, and turned it into a call for “adulterers” to “Repent or Perish!”

Ironically, but not surprisingly, Grisham was a "sexual sinner" before he got saved.

What’s next for Repent? They’ve posted a “Warfare Map” on the group’s Web site. The map includes establishments like gay bars, strip clubs and porn shops, but also the Wildcat Bluff Nature Center. Repent believes the 600-acre prairie park’s Walmart-funded “Earth Circle,” used for lectures, is a Mecca for witches and pagans. Also on the list are The 806 coffeehouse (a hangout for artists and counterculture types), the Islamic Center of Amarillo (“Allah is a false god”), and “compromised churches” like Polk Street Methodist (gay-friendly).

  1. wow, these hate groups believe in free speech right? They believe in less government, they believe in privacy, AS LONG AS IT'S BENEFITING THEM, AS LONG AS THEY STAND BEHIND THE VEIL OF CHRISTIANITY, THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT, INCLUDING MURDER....

These groups are taking away Americas freedoms, in the name of God. They are true haters of anyone different then themselves. They would rid the world of all humanity, except their Christian brothers, if they could. PURE EVIL...

  2. Allah is a false god? Allah is God.Arabic, like Dieu in French. Ignorant assholes are saying "God is a false god".

What a bunch of disgusting hypocrites. Why does Christianity attract so many irrational dirtbags?

  3. These morons know nothing about Christianity or the religions of the world or the history of religion. The Islamic God is the God of Abraham, just like the Jewish God and the Christian God is the God of Abraham, tell those headbangers that and they will kill you.

  4. A "good" religion allows you to justify anything.

  5. These morons think they sit on the right hand of God and He speaks only to them. Of course, it is only the ignorant who believe such hocus-pocus.

  6. So, Amarillo has it's own goon squad out terrorizing the citizenry. That's what they are, after all...terrorists. So where's that Homeland Security thingy, and the Patriot Act thingy, coming into play when vigilante terrorist good squads start harassing the locals?

  7. Holte,you nailed it re:God of Abraham.

Bee you're right-they are terrorists. Hadn't quite thought of it, but I think you also nailed it there. violence/threat of violence against civilians for political/religious reasons. Hell it's textbook terrorism, I agree.

  8. Amarillo has another one that is more national in scope. Im going to tackle them at a later time. This town of 200,000 is not a place for liberals or even centurists.

These groups are indeed treasoness and dangerous.

  9. ". . . a security guard at nuclear-bomb facility Pantex who moonlights as a pastor, explained the action. “We’re here to shine the light on this darkness . . .”

This comes off as a demented Hollywood follow-up to the Blues Brothers. Only instead of goodhearted Jake, Elwood and their zany musician pals, you've got armed and dangerous religious kooks on a power trip.

Just as outrageous as the group's activities is that they're operating in a community that apparently tolerates the self-righteous bullies.

Trust me, Amarillo, let these idiots run wild and they will keep going farther and farther, until they make you wish you had stopped them early on.

  10. So I'm guessing these guys don't read Harry Potter...

  11. At least the Cruds and Blips in LA are non-political -- they're in it for greed and thrills, which are satisfiable. These guys sound more like the Brownshirts or the Saudi religious police. They are out to expunge every last behavior or expression, by anyone, that doesn't conform to their religious taboos.

I have a quote on my blog sidebar: "Virtue is more to be feared than vice, because its excesses are not subject to the regulation of conscience." This is a very good example.

Yes, Allâh is just the Arabic word for "God", like Dieu in French or Gott in German. Arabic-speaking Christians (they exist, millions of them -- Arab and Muslim are not synonymous) use Allâh to mean the Christian God. I've seen Christian religious literature written in Arabic and that's the word used, always.

  12. SW: Trust me, if you ever go to Amarillo, which is out in the middle of nowhere, you just need to keep going.

Magpie: I'm guess these guys don't read, period.

Infidel: You made me curious and you certainly know more about this than this ignorant American, so I looked up Allah. It is also used by Islam - all Muslims - for God as well?

  13. I looked up Allah. It is also used by Islam - all Muslims - for God as well?

There are some Muslim countries I know little about, but I think it varies. Allâh is the Arabic word for "God" and is used by all Arabic-speaking people -- Muslim, Christian, or whatever (as English-speaking people will use the word "God" whether they are Christian, Jewish, Mormon, or even Muslim). Islam, like Christianity, has spread to many countries that speak many different languages, and all of those languages presumably have their own word for "God".

The only Muslim but non-Arab country I know a lot about is Iran, whose dominant language is Persian. There is a Persian word for "God", Khodâ, and my impression is that Persian-speakers are more likely to use Khodâ than Allâh.

Most Muslim cultures have adopted a large number of Arabic words into their own languages, comparable to the many English words that come from Latin and French. That's especially true of words with religion-related meanings. An example in Persian would be the Shiite religious title Ayatollâh, from Arabic Ayat Allâh meaning "reflection of God". But that's like, say, the English word "theology", which comes from a Greek compound word meaning "god-knowledge" -- it doesn't mean we use Theos for "God" in everyday English.

As for what word, say, Turkish or Indonesian Muslims use for "God", I have no idea.

Sorry for long answer -- you got me going a bit:-)

  14. A little research shows that God is used in Turkey - a Muslim nation.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Really? That would be an incredible coincidence if the Turkish word were the same as the English one, wouldn't it? I don't know Turkish, but an online dictionary gave me Allah or Tanri as Turkish for "God".

    ReplyDelete
  16. So much for online dictionaries! I think you're right. I used to have a lot of Turkish friends but have lost contact with most of them over the years. In fact I used to rent a house and shared it with a Turkish guy. I loved him, not romantically, but he definitely fit the bill for The Mad Turk. Always lot's of activity in his bedroom.

  17. Infidel753, thanks for some good insight. Also, that sidebar quote is excellent.

As a side note that might be of related interest (or just off topic, I admit) "pizza" means pie in Italian. So we Americans who refer to "pizza pie" tend to make Italians shake their head and chuckle.

  18. Lots of videos! I have copied and pasted the 18 comments to read as I’m interested. Might be repeating what others have said, but just two points:

1- At the bottom of all this is a Hitler-like hatred and fear of anyone “different.”
2- This guy works as a security guard at a nuclear bomb plant? OMG!!! Shades of Stephen King’s “The Stand.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center, headed by Morris Dees, keeps up with all these hate groups. Check out the Center’s Web site.

  19. OK, I’ve read the comments. I-753’s are always so enlightening. For the record, God in the Holy Bible gives himself (or, if you prefer, herself) one name: “I AM.” First person, present tense. So, that name in, say, France would be “JE SUIS.”

I believe the Jewish name for God is Yahweh.

In this land of opportunity, I believe the biggest SIN is self-inflicted ignorance. As a Christian, it breaks my heart the harm these fanatics are doing to my faith.

  20. SPLC just released a new report on hate groups. The number has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year. Pretty damn scary but I'd like to think that many will float off into oblivion and that there's a lot of overlap.

You should be concerned about what these people are doing to the Christian faith. The righteous are driving them away.
