*babbino in Italian is a pet name for a father, translated roughly, the phrase means "O my dear little papa."
I think people are familiar with the phrase from this aria, which always reminds me of my papa.
And no, that's NOT Olympia Snowe singing [but there is a striking resemblence between th two women, isn't there?] The soprana is the incomparable Maria Callas.

ReplyDeleteI used to have a lot of 78s with Maria Callas - my families. ; ) She did have a beautiful voice and was quite the "Diva."
