"Beau" - Jimmy Stewart on Johnny Carson

Dedicated to dog lovers everywhere.

  1. I remember seeing that show- I'm guessing it was from the early 1980's. Anyone who ever had a dog, and had to get through that friend's death, can relate to Jimmy's poem....touching then, and even more so now that I'm approaching old geezerdom.

Jimmy Stewart was such an American original, and a true icon....and we use that term way too loosely these days.

I was shocked a few years ago when at a family dinner my niece and nephew (now 26 and 23 respectively) gave me blank looks when I mentioned James Stewart and his classic films; I might as well been talking about an obscure 10th century Byzantine emperor.

They don't watch black and white movies.....EVER!

    Thanks for posting!

  2. Ye Olde Geezer: I never thought he was a very good actor. No matter what kind of role he played he was still Jimmy Stewart. But I liked him enormously and share your view that he was an American legend.

Ahhh, these young whipper snappers have no clue as to what they're missing do they?
