Where's Oh!Pinion?

Anyone know? Can't link to our friend's blog from my roll or after a Google search. Surely he hasn't deserted us.

  1. I found him here using Google. I was able to go to his site.

  2. Rhanks, but it doesn't work for me. This is the message I get:

"You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I have no clue wtf this means.

  3. How strange. It pops right up for me, even when I use the link in my comment. When all else fails, reboot and try it again.

  4. "Rhanks?" Would you try it from the link on my roll? They're in alpha order, of course!

  5. tnlib, I'm flattered. My blog got hacked somehow at the beginning of the month. I've spent countless hours since trying to figure out how and where, and break whatever was causing it to generate RSS spam. I finally had to re-create the blog in a new subdomain, do a whole lot of hand work under the hood, learn how to import and modify all sorts of things. It's been a workout and an experience, let me tell you.

The reborn blog is at (you need the http thing first) ohpblog.ohpinion.com. It's set up to automatically redo your bookmarks, favorites and, I think, RSS link, to point to the right address. I've had to impose some gonzo secuity measures, and it appears you ran afoul of one of them. That most likely has to do with the server you're on, not you.

If the automatic bookmarks and links update doesn't work for you, you could right click on those things, click on "properties" and simply change "wp" to "ohp" in the link. If that doesn't fix it, let me know here and I'll go back under the hood to fix whatever is getting in the way.

  6. BTW, y'all are invited to my come over and read my (at long last) latest post, on the Wisconsin situation. Note that the "Comments" link is in the byline now. I prefer it to be at the end of the post, but the updated theme template doesn't seem to allow that, at least unless one is a php coder.

Feedback on the post, as always, is welcome. Now, feedback on the site experience is needed. Bring a friend. Don't be late. :)

  7. Changed it but still can't get on. If it were my server, wouldn't I have trouble with others? I use ME.

  8. I apologize for the inconvenience. I worried this would happen when I put the clamps on. The problem is that some other customers on the same server or group of servers you're on have been ID'd as spammers or worse. Or, there's a chance they used a spoofed IP number that made it look like they're on your server.

I took the clamps off what I believe is the set of servers your account is on. So, you should be able to get on at Oh!pinion with no problem. If not (he wrote, biting his lip) it probably means I got the wrong IP's. In that case, let me know in another comment here.

BTW, I notice your RSS feed in your blogroll works for Oh!pinion again, and I fixed the location of the comments link on posts to below the post. Things are looking up.

Again, my apologies for the trouble you had getting on. It should be fixed now.
