ATTN: Blogger Bloggers

Did you know you can now have threaded comments? I didn't see an announcement but just noticed it on my own blog and checked it out. A nice improvement. Now, if we could only block undesirable assholes.

Enabling threaded commenting
If you have commenting enabled on your blog, then threaded commenting will work provided you have your blog feed set to "Full," and have chosen the “Embedded" option as opposed to “Full page” or “Popup window.” To change your commenting settings, just go to the Comments section under Settings | Posts and comments. The setting to change your blog feed can be found under Settings | Other.

Notifications
A threaded commenting system means more discussion and back-and-forth dialogue. If you’d like to be notified of any updates to a discussion, just click “Follow by email” to subscribe to the thread. This way, you’ll be notified via email so you can keep up with the conversation. Keep in mind that this is a different subscription than the “Follow by email” gadget used to follow another blogger’s blog posts.

  1. I did notice. I likey. But I've had several readers tell me they can no longer comment at all, and some can access my blog but not scroll it. And it all started with this new thing. Mr. Google is no help. Plenty of people ARE getting through so the whole thing is (as usual) a mystery to me.

    1. Murr - maybe it's all that snow up/out there. ;) The form for mine just "appeared" - probably because I already had the required configuration. Haven't heard from any of my millions of readers that they couldn't comment, so maybe it's a temporary glitch. "Online help" is an oxymoron.

  2. I have to think about this. I don't have time to comment or read all the blogs now and this sounds very time consuming. Am I missing something?

    1. Darlene, it really isn't time consuming at all and is very easy to do - just follow the steps given above. If I can help, let me know.

  3. Hmmmm . . . I think I'm gonna try it although I suspect that I'm messing up as I type this.

  4. Leslie,

I was JUST thinking about this a day or two ago. Word Press has had this feature forever but Blogger has not. I installed Intense Data Base on one of my blogs because I really like the "reply" option and was even contemplating switching over to Word Press simply for that option (I'm not a big fan of Word Press). But now I don't have to!

Thanks for letting us know! You ROCK! I never would've known until I saw it on someone else's Blogger blog and done some research. You saved me a lot of time!

    1. Why, thank you, ma'am. I've thought of switching to WP on more than a couple of occasions, but in order to get the features I need and want, I'd have to pay for my own domain, which is not doable for me. Also, I always find it a bit slow. A lot of the problems I used to have ended when I downloaded Google Chrome and quit using IE.

  5. Are they ever going to fix that glitch that came in with this, where when you click on the link to a specific post, it takes you to the comment form at the end instead of to the top of the post? It's annoying.

    1. I've only had that problem a couple of times (in my previous post), so maybe they have fixed it. I don't really know, though, and sometimes I click on the wrong "Reply" button.

    2. It's still doing it. When I came to your blog just now, I clicked on the headline of this very post, and instead of taking me to the top of the post it went to the bottom.

    3. I don't understand this. I played around with it and there were a few minutes when there seemed to be a few glitches. When I clicked on the link to your blog from my roll, I got a page of nothing but HTML and a couple of times when I clicked on the title of this blog, it took me to the bottom instead of the top. Plus the roll only had blog names and not the thumbnails of articles.

But then it seemed to straighten out. I went to your blog and Sue's and when I clicked on your links, it opened at the top. And when I clicked on the title of this post and the previous one on PP, it went to the top. But if I start from PP and click on "comments" it does go to the bottom.

IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM - NOT ONLY HERE BUT ELSE WHERE. Blogger, like FB, seems to go into glitch mode when they're working on the mainframe. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment.
