Rep. Parker Griffith another switch-hitter - good ridence

Parker Griffith, a Democratic representative from  Alabama is switching his loyalties to the Republican Party. The move should prove a blessing for the Democrats since he's thumbed his nose at most of their
agenda items anyway.

"He has bucked the Democratic leadership on nearly all of its major domestic initiatives, including the stimulus package, health care legislation, the cap-and trade energy bill and financial regulatory reform."

Alabama has mostly been a Democratic state since 1996. And then along came Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions and all the Republican representatives. Since Griffith barely beat out his Republican opponent for his first tour of duty, no doubt he's thinking ahead to the next election. The Democrats need to get off their donkeys.

  1. I saw this on the news this AM and knew nothing about him, but from what I read Good Riddance is the best way to describe this move...

  2. From what I sae, the republicans may not want this joker either. Which is good if they can take him out in the primary in favor a an easily beatable wacko.

  3. He's no loss to the Democrats. I ccould be wrong but I don't think anyone trusts a person who switches party loyalties. Can they be trusted? When the GOP gets all they need from Lieberman he'll be a man without a home, I hope.

  4. LP,
You may be surprised to know I don't care for people who change parties in midstream. It seems to be disengenious at best. If you want to switch parties do so at election time. Let people elect you as you are. Spectoring is unseemly regardless of party.

  5. L&OT: No, I'm not surprised at all. It is disengenious.

When I lived in Denver I went to one of these big fund-raising luncheons for Ben Nighthorse Campbell. As soon as he was elected he switched parties, not even waiting till he got to Washington.

I appreciate everyone stopping by and hope you'll repeat the act.
