1970s: Elvis Presley - An American Triology

Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi and died on August 16, 1977. Because yesterday was his birthday. By special request from FRODO.

Just between us folks, "Battle Hymn of the Republic" isn't a southern hymn. But please stand at attention anyway.

  1. Leslie: Elvis has one of the BEST voices EVER. Guess that's why he's THE KING. He's also some great EYE CANDY.

I can't believe he would be 75 yrs old. And he's been gone now 33 years. The world sure has missed a lot of great music in that time frame.

I have his Christmas CD, it's one of my favorites.

  2. There was definitely nothing wrong with the guy's music or his eyes. It's too bad he got so messed up.

It seems kind of strange that so many doctors of entertainers have provided their patients with too many pills.

  3. One of the last nights that Frodo and his father ever spent together was watching the concert in Hawaii. Of different generations and tastes, they sat, wordlessly, somehow both knowing that "Dixie" was part of their past, that "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" chronicled their time together, and that "All My Trials" spoke of their joint reward.

Frodo and Sam were fortunate enough to see Elvis in concert.

Frodo's youth ended the night that Presley died.

    A grand gift, thank you.
