I've just completed a world-wind tour looking for the best fireworks display celebrating the arrival of 2010. Only one winner out sparks the rest and by about 200 lengths. China's display was surprisingly weak, Russia's was amateurish, Paris had none but lit up the Eiffel Tower in an unimagitive light-show that a three year-old chimpanzee could do. And personally, I'm bored to tears with watching a crowd of screaming maniacs count backwards as the ball drops in Times Square.
Smoking out everyone else was Sydney, Australia.
Sydney is the first of the major world cities to put on a show and they know it. They make themselves a very hard act to follow. Hope the new year started well for you.

ReplyDeleteEven when I drank, I never went out on New Year's or St. Patty's, so I just stayed home and played on my computer for a change of pace.
