Animal abuse: woman sets dogs on fire

In case readers haven't figured it out by now, I become outraged when I stumble across incidents of animal abuse. Before anyone asks, "what about child abuse?" My answer is, "what about spouse abuse?" or just "what about abuse?"

Abuse is an epidemic that reaches across all segments of society. It is a reflection of man's inhumanity to man, woman, child and animal. It is, of course, barbaric and indefensible.

By passing on these stories of unmitigated cruelty are we at risk of becoming immune to the plight of the victims? Do we finally reach a point that we become numb to their pain and suffering? I hope not. I hope that there will come a time when public outrage will demand harsher penalties for perpetrators of such savage acts.

And mental health counseling? By all means, especially for children who abuse animals. Maybe they are young enough that they can be reached before they become adults and abuse their spouses. By then, it's virtually too late. Even with counseling, the recidivism rate for spouse abusers is over 85 percent.

Obviously the woman in this video needs help in a big way.

  1. A few weeks ago an inbred from Fruita was caught and charged for dragging a dog to death inside the Colorado National Monument. Hard to understand.

  2. One of the things that drives me nuts is people who drive with dogs in the back of their trucks - tied or untied.

  3. We've got a couple old cats, had to make a lot of recent vet trips. One had to be put down. Each visit had me in tears, like a kid. Can't help it. Willful cruelty to animals is beyond my comprehension.

  4. Wilful cruelty of any kind is unacceptable. Guess that's why I hate Tea Baggers and other assorted wing-nuts.
