"Give Us Your Cash, Bitch:" The Most Vulgar Ad Ever (UPDATE)

Even for right-wing thugs, this web ad is nauseatingly vulgar.

In 2000 Los Angeles launched a program to "train reformed gang members and other members of high-crime communities to prevent gang violence." L.A. City Council member and Democratic congressional candidate Janice Hahn supported this effort. She is now the target of an exceptionally ugly ad by the conservative Turn Right USA.
Give me your cash, bitch, so we can shoot up the street.
Give me your cash, bitch, so we can buy some more heat.
Give me your cash, ho, so we can get out of the bin.
Give me your cash, ho, because we're back in again.

The ad isn't just offensive and incredibly vulgar, according to Think Progress it is also misleading, if not downright wrong.
The "gang intervention specialist" program that Hahn supported is part of a wildly successful decade-long effort to reduce crime in Los Angeles. Indeed, L.A.'s violent rate was nearly cut in half after its most recent peak in 2000. And the city's crime rate is currently at a 50 year low, despite the pressures of a massive economic downturn.
Through a spokesman, Hahn's opponent denounced the ad: "The Internet video in question is inappropriate, highly offensive and has no connection whatsoever to the Craig Huey campaign."

UPDATE: This proves the ad is not a parady and provides some background.
The treasurer of a new "super PAC" which released what has been called the most offensive political advertisement in history is considering disassociating himself with Turn Right USA because he "just can't approve" of an ad featuring an actress portraying a pole-dancer in booty shorts standing in for a Democrat running for Congress.
NOTE: Here are two links to TRUSA, one titled Janice Hahn for Congress.

Janice Hahn (D, Los Angeles City Council) increased gang violence by using taxpayer money to hire gang members! They were supposed to be “gang intervention specialists”. Instead they continued their robbing, stealing, raping and murdering, all the while laughing behind Janice’s back!
To make matters worse, when two police officers arrested some of Janice’s “gang intervention specialists,” Hahn bailed the criminals out of jail and applied pressure to get the police officers fired from their jobs!
Help us STOP Janice Hahn before she is elected to Congress, goes to Washington D.C. and makes things worse! We don’t need an idiot like Janice Hahn in Congress. Congress has enough gang-bangers already!
Brian G., the lone commenter, offers up this little pearl of wisdom:
Hey, good for you guys! Finally some conservatives with some testicular fortitude! I see the commie-lib-Soros outlets already foaming at the mouth. I thought it was Hillary-uos…not a thing offensive, except for the real life Janice Hahn..LOL
In a press release they respond "to Janice Hahn Campaign’s silly FEC complaint."

  1. This is a disgusting ad. Turn Right U.S.A should be called Turn Wrong U.S.A. What a bunch of assholes.

  2. A stereotypical example of how the right describes every effort progressives try, as evil, not just an idea they disagree with.

  3. This is what they have to do to win - lie. Plus cheat and steal too. That don't do it they'll kill you. Put it all together and it works real gooood!

  4. What Tom said, I know some on the left can act that way but the problem is far worse on the right.

  6. I shared a link to this on FB with the comment that it takes a lot to shock me but this did. Degenerates. Really disgusting.

  8. Uhhh - maybe "pole." Have elections on the brain.

  9. I'm not surprised to see this. It's how the right operates: lies and sordid videos.

  10. Um. Wow. This ad will backfire. Minorities are not "dumb," gangsta, money tossin', shuckin and jivin', jip-jibbin, pimpin blah blah blah like republicans try to make us all think they are, and they can readily tell when a mockery is being made of them. And for ANYONE who is not intelligent enough to catch on to how horrible this is...well they probably think the tune is "catchy" and that the booty is nice... and will vote for Hahn just because she is the face associated with the tune and the sexy, shaking rump, and these are people who would normally NOT VOTE.....back fire....pizammm! "You'll shoot your eye out kid!"

  11. And since when did tv ads have the b-word in them? I don't want my 3-year old to hear that, and I don't necessarily want to hear that word any more than I have to. It's already said enough in regular programming.

  12. This is a real ad and not some kind of parody? If so, the people who made it are incredibly naïve. No wonder Huey denounced it. The horror-comic red eyes, and the blatant racist appeal in a state where more than a third of the population is non-white, seem almost calculated to lose votes.

If it's real, it's a sign that the Nutty faction of the right wing has gone even further off the deep end than I thought, and now thinks sanity and reality are for wimps.

  13. This is/was an Internet ad, not a TV ad. I cannot link to it, so suspect it has been taken down. This TurnRight USA was supposedly a new super PAC, but I'm beginning to wonder if it wasn't someone's idea of a bad joke.

  14. Oh...ok...I must have missed the internet ad part. That explains a lot. Different target audience.

  15. I posted this on my own blobber thing yesterday and was surprised at how little attention it got. This is the kind of thing that appeals to a certain mentality, a certain philosophy, and while sane, rational, thoughtful people will find it offensive as hell, those folks in the target audience will suck it up like nectar. I received an email this morning from a rightie-relative and it was just as offensive, using much the same messengers to frighten off white, middle class voters. It's horrible, and it's effective. Racism is alive, well, and spreading like a mutant virus via email and internet ads like this one.

  16. This is one of those deals of, Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Freedom? Does the sacred cow of freedom of speech need his horns clipped?

  17. This is par for the course for movement conservatives. They're mostly bullies. They have no pride, honesty, integrity or decency, just greed for power and money. The upshot is that they will say and do anything to win. Nothing is too dishonest, underhanded or sleazy if they think it will result in them winning.

  18. It's obvious from the video and the update that the people behind this are bullies, thugs, racist, ignorant - everything everyone here has said. Really, really hideous. I'd love to know who's backing them.

As despicable as I find this kind of thing, I will never support curtailing free speech. Once that kind of thing starts, there's no end to it - especially if these right-wing extremists ever get control.

  19. Oh yes. The target audience is definitely the whole "I saw this in a chain letter; that makes it true" crowd. I will never support curtailing free speech either. I truly believe that if anything should be left to the "free markets," it's free speech. Meaning that it will self regulate, but when it gets out of hand like defamation and screaming fire in a huge crowd, government intervenes.

Speaking of propaganda, heard of the horror movie The Life Zone yet ? It warrants a gander.

  20. I think these folks would have to reach very high to get on the same level as Breitbart!

By the way, kiss the Queen City for me. I lived there for a long, long time and miss it and the area enormously.

  21. Excellent coverage, Leslie, and thanks for the linkage. There is no limit to how vile the Republican Party will be.
