A Refreshing Campaign Ad

If I still lived in Colorado, I would vote for this man based on this short ad alone:

John Hickenlooper is the very astute and forward thinking Democratic mayor of Denver. He is running for governor of Colorado against the Republican Neanderthal Dan Maes, a regular do-nothing know-nothing kind of guy.

Readers here were first introduced to the mindless wonderfulness of Maes when he warned "voters that Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper's policies, particularly his efforts to boost bike riding, are 'converting Denver into a United Nations community.'"

Amazingly Maes actually won the Republican primary. Seems his opponent, Scott McInnis and the much favored  candidate, took a nose dive when it was discovered that he plagiarized an article he called "Musings on Water."

Since Maes has a few campaign finance oopsies, Hickenlooper could probably dance down the hall of the  Denver City and County Building in boxer shorts singing - Singing In the Rain - and still win.

  1. He could have worn a little fez for variety in one of the scenes, then a kaffiyeh in another. You know, reaching across the aisle to get that Republican diversity vote.

  2. No SOAP OPERA in his campaign. It would be nice if we could get some "plain ol boys" in some government seats. Might just make a difference a little at a time.

  3. With Der Reichsführer Tancredo also in the race with "Klanny Danny," Hickenlooper can afford a little levity.

  4. Well Ms.leslie, it was too the point, and not negative ... thought it was kind of funny though, at least entertaining.

  5. LOL. I figured this would bring out the wits. CLEAN, SOAP OPERA and costume suggestions no less. LOL.

John H. really is sharp as hell despite his sort of nondescript appearance. I think that's why I always get a double kick out of the things he comes up with - like this ad.

Tancredo just selected a real loser for his running mate - Pat Miller. She is a former state rep who wasn't re-elected after her first term and who lost in another race. She is Tea Party all the way - the only person I know who makes Palin look like a liberal brain trust.

  7. Guess I can be the first to call him Governor Hickenlooper. He will be the coolest named gov in the nation when he is sworn in. AYUP, I am calling it. NO way in hell is Maes going to win, what with Tancredo siphoning votes from him and Maes with the bikes are a communist plot. This is one race to watch right here for the fun of it.

@Anon, guess it's a good thing it's in Colorado, and not Texas then isn't it? Some days it's not good to pee in your own cheerios before posting. Just saying is all.

  8. And now we have it - a shining example of a product of the Texas educational system. Hee-haw! "concered?"

  9. I hope the balloting doesn't end in a wash, and that Hickenlooper wins. Of course, the downside is that it could invite snark from his opponent about being all wet. ;)

  10. I must be missing something here Ms.Leslie, according to you and this anonymous figure, what does any of this have to do with the state of Texas or the Texas Educational System? Forgive me, just trying to pick up a lil education myself. Actually I may add ... much of the investment and contricution's to the Dallas Area was from New Yorker's ... Plano has a large population of New Yorker's for instance ... but also and independent school District, which the Metroplex has at least 20 seperate inde sschool district's actually.

  11. S.W. Very good. I'm sure he'll win but as crazy as the political scene is these days, nothing is guranteed.

RC: The first tip-off was the non-word "concered." It probably should have read, although it's hard to tell for sure, "considered." Such mistakes are indicative of trolls. My built-in spy program told me it came from NY where there are a whole payroll of GOP whores who do nothing but trol liberl sites and make asses of themselves. Usually I delete this kind of nonsense. Look how much time and energy it has taken away from this simple little post.

  12. Interesting indeed, so the time for me in this case was of value, thank you. Because I didnt catch the word "cocered" and just looked at it as misprint, because I am guilty myself of typing too fast at time's and rushing, without proofreading over some of what I typed before I hit to publish, unfortunately, and mispell time and again. But I had no idea of any of this "spy" stuff/ where as far as locating where stuff come's from ( I actually dont utilize any of this, or would know if a troll was coming at me or from where, But I'm a nobody, so to troll me would be a waste of the troll's time ) nor about New York having a list of conservative's who are targeting liberal site's. But too, I wonder as far as the topic of time wasting ... why in the world do these troll's even exist? I mean ... what would be the benefit is what I am trying to say ... of going to a site you clearly disagree with ... and spending time trolling them, or harrassing them, when it would clearly be more logically beneficial to you to be in alignment with those who you agree with more and network/ share something, that would benefit ya'll instead of letting the opponent feed off your time? As dumb as I may sound perhap's on this subject ... I cant see any benefit whatsoever of "trolling", to the "troll" that is.

  13. RC: Read

    http://swashzone.blogspot.com/2010/04/you-might-be-troll-if-long-essay-on.html

Scroll down to section with heading: You Might Be a Trol If . . .

Trolls aren't exactly known for their intelligence and a lot of them do get paid. That's why I call them GOP whores. We all have misspelled words or hit the wrong key from time to time - That's why spellcheck is a good thing to do as a last step before posting and then reading it over because spellcheck doesn't catch everything.

  14. Thank You for the link .... Wow! ... that was more complex than the penal code's I was just reviewing for a fella who just got 5 to 15 year's on transporting heroin the other day! Geeeezzz! I actually in approx 2.5 year's on this computer ... for at least a year, had no idea what this "troll" was ... I had to ask a blogger one day, who explained, but very brief. Nor did I know that they even make money in some cases, but make's sense I reckon. Although I vote democrat these day's, I reckon I dont truely have any political agenda though as far as purpose to blog. I never used the spellcheck thing, and just ... look myself, but that's only because I like doing stuff like that myself, just like when I try to troubleshoot or check stuff under the hood of my car ... or try to figure out a scam in the contract or whatever, I reckon. But it also appear's that some of these ... continuously pound at blog's where they are not welcome .. I noticed on a couple other folk's blog's how they were constantly harrassed by anonymous character's. The simple approach to me is ... if there is a blog/ journal that I am completely or mostly in disagreement with, and they have shown directly or indirectly that I am not welcome ... it is much easier and logical to just stop visiting the blog, if all I will do is engage in conflictual chat ... not even sure if I could do it for money, I mean ... there's alot of thing's to do to make a buck, you know, unless I reckon the pay is really choice pay? Some thing's I'm a lil slower on at time's simply because I dont take time to try to research or get into it, I reckon lack of interest? I will post anything anyone say's for instance, regardless of how awful it may be, but only because when I started this ... I said that I would post any comment and not delete, in other word's I made a commitment, so therefore I cant back out regardless of the consequences unfortunately, kind of a personal thing I have going. I only once deleted a comment someone posted, because it was not a comment ... it was chinese lettering/ character's, that when you clicked on one of the letter's ... a picture of a nude asian very young woman appeared, which appeared to be some sexually oriented type advertisement and not an actual comment, why on my blog, did they post this? puzzled the Hell out of me. Thanx Leslie, I learned something!
