OH MY!........ OH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Vice President Joe Biden might say, "It's a big fucking deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I have little, if any, respect for John Roberts' intellect, his ethics or his knowledge of the law. But he saved affordable health care for millions of Americans. Had he not voted to uphold it, all would be lost. Can you imagine the pressure put upon him by the likes of Scalia and Thomas and the other two reprobates? Can you imagine the crap he's going to have to endure from the Tea Baggers, Faux News and all the rest? From Neanderthals like Boehner and Mittens?

Leave it to the Tennessee GOP to jump the gun.

Oh well, TN Republicans weren't the only ones who had it wrong.

A big win for the American people, even for those too stupid to understand how this ruling and the ACA benefits them.

  1. I watched MSNBC for this announcement, and what a surprise the decision was---Jim Williams, the reporter at the Court---his voice was shaking as he announced it.
And now the Republicans have set a date for a vote to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act. Figures....

    1. Wonder if his voice was shaking because he was shocked, angry or happy.

  3. I went to some conservative blogs to see what they were saying. One actually wrote that he believes President Obama threatened the SCOTUS! Some of them are that nuts:

"He mustered up every last corrupt fiber in his body to ram this law through in historic fashion. It was the most divisive piece of legislation in the entire history of the United States.

Why the hell would he let a bunch of conservative judges ruin all that? Do you honestly think Barack Hussein Obama, the mystery man with the hidden past and the Chicago connections would just sit back and not be involved in some diabolical, manipulative way while his entire presidential legacy went down the drain?

Recall back a little over a month ago when the Supreme Court was debating the issue. Is it just me, or did we see a complete 180 shift in opinion today?

There is no doubt in my mind Obama had something up his sleeve the entire time. Either a Chicago mafia style threat or a big fat payday for SCOTUS."

    Sick.

    1. The right-wing is indeed going bonkers and I'm loving every darn minute of it. They have revved up the hysterical lie machine about 500 notches until it's about to crash cyberspace. And listen to what Ran Paul has to say:

Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional' does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional.... "While the court may have erroneously come to the conclusion that the law is allowable, it certainly does nothing to make this mandate or government takeover of our health care right."

    2. And here is a little tidbit that a friend left on FB:

FRIEND: For my intelligent, Liberal, Progressive friends...the statement below is on a national Tea Party site...just so you know how the minds of those other folks work...."

"I am literally sick over this, and grieving terribly. I must continually remind myself that G-d in control, and on His throne. We must repent as a nation, or we will continue to suffer. ObamaCare is only the beginning of our suffering, if we do not repent.

G-d forgive me, but I have been having a persistent thought in my mind since about 10:30 this morning. It is a picture in my mind of John Roberts, a few decades from now, lying in a bed in a hospice or nursing home, watching in horror as the nurses disconnect his feeding tube, just as they did with Terri Schiavo. Then, he takes 13 days of agony to dehydrate and starve to death (just like Terri Schiavo), all because the Death Panels THAT HE JUST MADE POSSIBLE TODAY chose to end his life in that fashion, because IT IS CHEAPER TO KILL SOMEONE BY STARVING AND DEHYDRATING THEM TO DEATH THAN IT IS TO GIVE THEM AN OVERDOSE OF MORPHINE. G-d forgive me. G-d forgive our nation.

The only possible respite I see at this point is to overturn ObamaCare, and that will not happen unless we take back the Senate and White House, and hold on to the House. Please, everyone, put aside your differences and vote Republican this November. Your life and the lives of your loved ones are literally depending on it."

FRIEND: And these poor people actually believe this......INSANE

    3. As opposed to all the thousand upon thousands of people who actually did die, often horribly, of treatable conditions under the old system because some unaccountable insurance company rescissioned them or wouldn't cover them in the first place due to a pre-existing condition. Soggy old tea-bags for brains, their delusions are more real to them than reality.

Not all of them are as unhinged as that, or as Shaw's example, but there's plenty of rage foaming up in the wingnutosphere today. The Secret Service may be putting in some overtime for a while, just in case.

Thing is, they really are feeling energized and motivated to get out and vote, to turn back the horrifying specter of uninsured people being able to get coverage. We better make sure our side is equally motivated. If the bad guys take the White House and Senate they could still mess this up.

    4. Unfortunately, "our side" doesn't seem to be very motivated. In fact, "our side" is dangerously apathetic. I see this in what little I do for the Obama campaign - it's hard as hell to find volunteers. And then we have the progressive wing of the "I Hate Obama Club" who are willing to sacrifice our country's future over some narrow ideology. I think we're in BIG trouble.

  7. It is a big win for the American people, but it will be short lived unless they're smart enough and will be resistant enough to the coming months and years of high-pressure propaganda and lying against health care reform to keep what has been gained for them.

The downside of the court's decision is that the it is energizing the worst of the extreme right, ensuring more money and more campaign volunteer work and other support for Republicans. As Thom Hartmann predicted on Friday, this is likely to be just like the never-ending residuals of Roe vs. Wade. Decades from now the forces of backwardness, darkness and selfishness will be fighting it tooth and nail. And that fight will go on filling their campaign coffers and energizing their base. It's the political equivalent of Freddie Krueger always coming back.
